Community Links

We are pleased to have several strong links within our community. Below is a little taste of some of them. If you would like to know more or know of another link where we can continue to reach out with God’s love, do get in touch.

While we provide the website addresses for some of our link organisations we  cannot be responsible for the content on their sites.

Local Schools

Our Vicar and Curate are members of the board of governors of the two local Primary Schools, Towerview and Winshill Village Nursery and Pirmary respectively, and are very active in the schools, taking assemblies, organising after school clubs and, on occasion, helping teach parts of the Religious Education curriculum. At Christmas and Easter about twenty members of the congregation help with The Easter and Christmas Experience events during which about 600 children visit the church in groups of 20-30 to engage in an interactive experience of the Easter and Nativity stories. St Mark’s also host special school services for Remembrance and Harvest, and welcomes visits from other schools across Burton upon Trent.

Winshill Churches Together

We have a close relationship with the other churches in Winshill, regularly sharing joint services and study groups, and helping to run the Winshill Churches Together monthly Messy Church mornings for children.

Winshill Allotments

The allotments have been on the Winshill site for many years, situated at the rear of Wheatley Lane. They have a fabulous orchard with picnic tables dotted about, bee hives on site, a large bug hotel as well as a chicken coop with 25 ex battery hens all now leading very happy and fulfilled lives.
We’re delighted to grow our relationship and look forward to future projects.
