...is at the centre of everything we do at St Mark's.

Welcoming All.

“May God… help you live in complete harmony with each other, as is fitting for followers of Christ Jesus. Then all of you can join together with one voice, giving praise and glory to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, accept each other just as Christ accepted you.”
Romans 15.5-7 NLT

We were all strangers once, welcomed into church for the first time. Someone saw Jesus in us, now it’s our turn. Come as you are, we would love to meet you. We gladly welcome and receive all who wish to share in our fellowship, join us in praise, or seek solace in our prayers. If you are young or old, an occasional visitor, regular attender, of a different tradition, or a complete sceptic, our door will be open to you.

Worshipping God.

“…wear love. It’s your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it. Let the peace of Christ keep you in tune with each other, in step with each other. None of this going off and doing your own thing. And cultivate thankfulness. Let the Word of Christ – the Message – have the run of the house. Give it plenty of room in your lives. Instruct and direct one another using good common sense. And sing, sing your hearts out to God! Let every detail in your lives – words, actions, whatever – be done in the name of the Master, Jesus, thanking God the Father every step of the way.”
Colossians 3.14-17 MSG

Worshipping God is our purpose; in spirit and in truth, in word and in deed, in action and in service. Our worship comes in a variety of forms with services ranging from formal to informal, peaceful to jubilant; sometimes the building is bursting at its seams, other times there will only be a quiet few. When faith is real, service is true, whether in St Mark’s or with our fellow churches, worship is also shown through action in our community; in local schools, scouting groups, care homes, neighbours’ homes and our own homes.

“Sing to the Lord all the earth; proclaim his salvation day after day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvellous deeds among all peoples. For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise.”
1 Chronicles 16.23-25a NIV

Reaching out to share His love.

“Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.”
Mark 16.15

Not everyone will come up the hill, so we’ll have to take His love down the hill. We reach out with God’s love as pilgrim people, striving to stand beside you wherever you are – up or down the hill! We work to share the good news and the love of God with all people, building the family of Christ through action and prayer.

“Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.”
1 John 4.7-8
